PLAY

It was a beautiful day in Noe Valley and a delight to feature Berit Lyssand's beautiful collection of handmade designs. If you did not get a chance to come to Mabuhay today, you can still view the collection and purchase pieces on display. If we do not have your little ones size, Berit would be happy to discuss making a larger or smaller size for your sweet little girl.

I am also now featuring custom handmade piñatas by Ashley Rose Kirschling.  Ashley made these letters for me that spell PLAY in my favorite colors. They are awesome!

"Ashley Rose Kirschling has a background in Education and the arts. She previously worked for the craft blog Oh Happy Day where she learned the techniques for piñata making. She continues her love for paper and throwing an awesome party with handmade piñatas and paper goods under the name Rose Paper Scissors."

She is setting up her Etsy shop but if you need something custom made for your little one's party you can reach her at: rosepaperscissors@gmail.com

And recently I met a really nice couple at the Clement Farmers Market last Sunday and tried one of their lovely teas. The Tea Smiths are working on a tea for kids. Maybe one that will get my kids to bed earlier. 😉
For now Mabuhay carries one of their teas containing all local ingrediants for pregnant mamas.

For more information check out: www.teasmiths.com

It was great to see some familiar faces today and meet new friends too!

I enjoy hosting art openings and trunk shows because I have so much ❤️ for all the local makers and their creations in my boutique.

Mabuhay!

Local ❤️

Mabuhay is excited to share Local ❤️ at a trunk show featuring Bay Area native Berit Lyssand and her lovely designs from her company Blinnea.
Join us Saturday, June 14, 2014
12-5 pm for an afternoon of local goodies.
Designer Berit Lyssand
"Scandinavian descent so I'm always working with my hands. Growing up in a household of handmade clothing, doll clothing and not to be wasteful. It's only natural that I make handmade clothing from vintage or reusable materials! "

"I started as a costume designer for children's theater. I eventually branched out on my own and combined the love for children and fashion. My inspiration is taking the style of clothing back to my childhood days. Bringing back cute designs that are vintage inspired."

Local Love from Mabuhay

When I opened Mabuhay 6 years ago, I wasn't thinking about blogging or having an online presence because my attention was focused on my brick and mortar boutique in Noe Valley and raising my son. Six years later, I have come to realize that because so many of my customers find me online, it makes sense to reach out and share my treasures in a blog.

It is a challenge to find the time for blogging as I am busy taking care of my rambunctious boys and managing my business. However, I have tons of pictures of all the art, toys and clothing - and quite a few of my boys wearing unique outfits from the amazing designers I have featured in my shop over the years.  Developing relationships with these creative artists and gifted designers has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my business, and it is my pleasure to share their treasures with the many friendly people who come to Mabuhay.

Every month I will be adding to my blog a new artist or designer. I will feature designs from the past as well as up and coming artists. I hope you will share my excitement for these local makers and their unique creations.

On June 4. I will be having a trunk show called Local  and I will be featuring a new designer named Berit Lyssand who I am very fond of and whose designs I just adore.  Stay tuned for more details...

Here's a sample of some of my favorite things that I have had in my boutique over the years:
